The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao
Seminar on Earthquake Science and Technology

A Hong Kong Observatory delegation led by Senior Scientific Officer Dr W T Wong, accompanied by seismologists from the Geotechnical Engineering Office of the HKSAR Government, University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Polytechnic University attended the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Seminar on Earthquake Science and Technology at Guangzhou on 4-5 March 2008.  The seminar is a biennial event, hosted by the Hong Kong Observatory, Macao Geophysical and Meteorological Bureau and the Earthquake Administration of Guangdong Province on a rotary basis.  The purpose is to promote the development of earthquake science and technology in the region.  The seminar this year covers a wide range of topics including geological surveys, earthquake analysis, earthquake detection systems, earthquake engineering, disaster mitigation technology, tsunami warning system and will contribute towards earthquake mitigation and disaster reduction, and technological development in the region.
