The First Liaison Meeting on Co-operation in Oceanography
between the Hong Kong Observatory and the State Oceanic Administration

Mr. LEUNG Wing-mo, Acting Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) led a 3-person delegation to attend the first liaison meeting on co-operation in oceanography with the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) at Zhuhai, Guangdong on 12 October 2007.

The meeting was held under the framework of the Agreement on Co-operation in Oceanography signed between HKO and SOA in Hong Kong in early 2007.  The meeting focused on specific topics of co-operation in oceanography to enhance the capabilities of the two parties in forecasting and warning of hazardous oceanic events, for the purpose of preventing and mitigating disasters and protection of lives and properties.
