Scientific advisor Professor Yihui Ding's visit to
the Hong Kong Observatory

On 9th and 10th July, Professor Ding Yihui accepted the Hong Kong Observatory's invitation to visit the Observatory. He introduced to the Observatory's colleagues the latest status of climate change in China as well as the work and roles of the China Meteorological Administration in response to climate change.

Professor Ding Yihui has been the Observatory's scientific advisor since 1996. He was the Director of the National Climate Centre and is currently a special consultant of the China Meteorological Administration on climate change. Professor Ding is an internationally renowned climatologist and has made important contribution in many international activities and organizations. He was well known for his participation and coordination in the drafting of the First, Second and Third Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Colleagues of the Observatory benefited greatly from the visit of Professor Ding, especially in future challenges of climate change. These invaluable insights will help to define our scope of work in the future.

Professor Ding also spoke highly of the work on climate change and climate forecasting of the Observatory in recent years. This is a valued encouragement to those who are involved in the relevant study and research.
