The Hong Kong Observatory and the Department of Applied Physics, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 10 January 2007 on co-operation in activities to promote weather education for schools in Hong Kong.
The activities include development of techniques for weather measurement, development of a website showing weather data obtained by weather stations at a number of schools, and training of undergraduates to assist in operating and maintaining the weather equipment there.
During the occasion, Dr. Lee Boon-ying, Assistant Director of the Observatory, also delivered a public lecture "Beyond the blue sky-some interesting phenomena in nature" to secondary school students.
