The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) and China Meteorological Administration (CMA) jointly held a ceremony on 27 October 2006 to commemorate the successful operation of a meteorological telecommunications circuit between Hong Kong and Beijing for more than three decades and the 10th Anniversary of the signing of the arrangement on long term co-operation between HKO and CMA.
The ceremony took place at the HKO Headquarters and was officiated by Professor Qin Da-he, Administrator of China Meteorological Administration and Mr. Lam Chiu-ying, Director of Hong Kong Observatory. At the ceremony, Professor Qin stressed the importance of co-operation between CMA and HKO. Mr. Lam also expressed his gratitude to CMA for its assistance in the past few decades.
