Public talk on "Nowcasting at
a glance -- forecasting severe weather a few hours ahead"
The Hong Kong Observatory conducted a public talk on "Nowcasting at a glance -- forecasting severe weather a few hours ahead" on 7 March 2009.  The talk introduced an in-house developed nowcasting system "SWIRL" and its applications in support of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.  A recently launched web product "Rainfall Nowcast for the Pearl River Delta Region" has also been demonstrated.  The talk was well received by more than 100 participants.
