To enhance public awareness of mountaineering safety, the Civil Aid Service joined hands with 14 government departments and non-governmental organisations to hold the "Mountaineering Safety Promotion Day" on 25-26 October (Saturday and Sunday).  As one of the co-organisers, the Observatory set up a booth to introduce weather related to mountaineering and hiking, and gave three talks on weather and mountaineering safety.  More than ten "Friends of Observatory" volunteers helped man the booth and enjoyed a happy weekend with the visitors.
