Hong Kong Observatory exhibited in the International ICT Expo 2008

The Observatory showcased its Heat Stress Measurement System and Airport Thunderstorm and Lightning Alerting System at the International ICT Expo 2008 (http://www.ictexpo.com) on 14-17 April 2008 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The Expo was a forum for introducing new information & communication technology (ICT) products and solutions.

The Heat Stress Measurement System was developed by the Observatory to monitor heat stress on horses and would be used to provide weather services during the 2008 Olympic Equestrian Events.  The Airport Thunderstorm and Lightning Alerting System issues Red and Amber lightning alerts based on weather radar echoes and lightning strokes detected by the Lightning Location Information System of the Observatory and other local lightning data.
