The Hong Kong Observatory received the Certificate of Recognition from the Labour and Welfare Bureau, in recognition of its support to the Child Development Fund (CDF)*, for gearing our disadvantaged children up for a better life journey.
“Care” and “Nurture” are two of the Observatory’s core values working towards the vision of being a model of excellence in protecting lives and building together a better society through science. The Observatory has long been committed to promoting public education and supporting activities for nurturing young generation. These include organising Open Days, talks, visits, and participating in mentorship programmes, etc.
CDF participants were especially invited to the Observatory on the first day of its Open Day last year. They were also invited to visit the Observatory’s facilities and meet the Director of the Observatory, who shared with them his own experience of personal growth and encouraged them to develop personal interest and stay positive.
*CDF, founded in 2008, is a tripartite, cross-sector collaboration among the community and family, the business sector and the Government. CDF aims to support longer-term development of children from a disadvantaged background, with a view to alleviating inter-generational poverty.
