The "Radiological Protection Officers' Course" organized by the Security Bureau and co-organized by the Hong Kong Observatory, the Department of Health and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, was completed on 15 May 2009 at the Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters. About 60 colleagues from various government departments involved in the "Daya Bay Contingency Plan" participated. The course included lectures on radiological protection, practical on operation of instruments and syndicate exercises. The trainees were happy with the arrangement and regarded the course very relevant and useful. Despite the high safety standard of the Guangdong and Lingao nuclear power plants, the trainees took the course seriously, especially during role playing in the syndicate exercises, so that they would be fully capable of protecting the safety of the member of the public in the unlikely event of an accident.
