HKO Side Lights
Members of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers visited the Observatory
A total of 24 members from the Nuclear Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE)  visited the Observatory on 22 January 2011.  They visited the Hong Kong Meteorological Centre, the Studio and the Radiation Monitoring and Assessment Centre at the Observatory Headquarters and also made a tour to the King’s Park Meteorological Station and Radiation Laboratory.  A Scientific Officer of the Observatory also took the opportunity to give a talk on ‘Climate Change’ to the visitors.  During the visit, there were enthusiastic sharing of knowledge and discussions in many aspects of the Observatory’s core business, including weather observations, radiation monitoring and climate forecast.  Members of the HKIE were particularly impressed by the various meteorological observation, radiation monitoring and radiation measurement facilities in King’s Park.
