Delegates from the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau visited the Observatory

The Observatory has long been working closely with the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau in a number of areas including weather monitoring, forecasting techniques and meteorological service.  In recent years, with the extensive application of Geographic Information System (GIS) and the improvement in resolution of numerical prediction models, both the Observatory and the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau have been developing weather services in these aspects.  On 9 and 10 March 2010, a delegation led by the Deputy Director of the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory, Mr. Zeng Qin, visited the Observatory.  Experiences and skills in the development of digital weather forecast system and GIS applications were exchanged and the future direction of development was explored.  The 2-day visit has been very fruitful to both parties.
