Mr. Gyomyung Choo from the Republic of Korea also remarked that certain techniques introduced by Mr. Chan were highly practical and could be easily adapted for use in his home country. The seminar has inspired enthusiastic exchanges among the seminar participants and instructors.
The Typhoon Committee is an intergovernmental body under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Currently, it is composed of 14 Members in the Asia Pacific area including Hong Kong, China. Mr. Chan was invited to serve as an instructor in the seminar to share his expertise and experience in the field, with particular focus on analysis and forecasting of high-impact weather associated with tropical cyclones.
