Delegates from the Beijing Meteorological Bureau and the Institute of Urban Meteorology visited the Observatory
Five delegates from the Beijing Meteorological Bureau (BMB) and the Institute of Urban Meteorology visited the Observatory during 30 March 1 April 2010 to better understand the different aspects of our work, ranging from weather monitoring, meteorological data processing, nowcasting, weather warning services to climate research, and to explore collaboration opportunities. Our guests also shared with the Observatory the latest development of their services and research activities in Beijing. At the conclusion of the visit, Ms Jianjie Wang, Deputy Director of BMB, said "This visit left a deep impression on us. Through the exchange with various HKO colleagues, we now have a deeper understanding of the effort and contribution by the Observatory in serving Hong Kong, a cosmopolitan city. HKO and BMB face very similar challenges in respect of future development. After the 2008 Beijing Olympics nowcast demonstration project, we wish to continue and broaden our exchange and collaboration with HKO in the future, so that we would progress in tandem."
