On 1 January 2012, a hiking team composed of observatory staff and volunteer helpers of the Friends of the Observatory (FoOb), led by the Director, Mr SHUN Chi-ming, participated in the 20th Cheung Sheung Hiking Festival. The weather was fine and sunny on that day. While enjoying the beauty of nature, all team members took the opportunity to promote hiking safety through the use of "Weather Information for Hiking and Mountaineering" available on the Observatory webpage.
