NASA Climate Scientist Dr William Lau visited the Observatory

Dr William K M Lau, Chief of the Laboratory for Atmospheres of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Scientific Advisor of the Hong Kong Observatory, gave a talk at the Observatory on 20 November 2009 on the latest results in climate study.

Dr Lau is a renowned climate scientist.  His research interests cover many topics, including climate dynamics, atmospheric hydrologic processes, air-sea interaction, climate variability etc.

The latest study revealed that in addition to global warming, aerosols also played an important role in climate change and melting of glaciers.  Dr Lau's presentation was enlightening and deepened participants' understanding of climate change.

Dr Lau spoke highly on the Observatory's work on climate change research and public education.  His remarks were encouraging.
