Professor Lord Julian Hunt from UniversityCollegeLondon visited the Observatory
Professor Lord Julian Hunt from University College London visited the Hong Kong Observatory on 19 November 2009 and gave an enlightening talk on "Climate Change Highlights and New Roles for Meteorologists".
Professor Hunt is a leading authority on modelling of turbulence and atmospheric flows. He is a Professor of Climate Modelling in the Department of Space & Climate Physics, and Geological Sciences at University College London, a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge and the Royal Society. He was Director-General and Chief Executive of the UK Meteorological Office from 1992 to 1997 and was created a Baron in the House of Lords in 2000.
Apart from scientific aspects, Professor Hunt also discussed about climate change related policies in his talk which successfully deepened participants' understanding on this topic.
