Public Lecture on Climate Change in the Hong Kong Wetland Park

Dr Lee Tsz-cheung, Scientific Officer of the Hong Kong Observatory, delivered the public lecture "Climate is changing, act now!" on 10 October 2009 at the invitation of the Hong Kong Wetland Park.   The lecture was attended by about 200 participants.  Through an interactive approach and quoting interesting examples, Dr Lee explained the background of global climate change, the observed climate change in Hong Kong and the projection of future trends.  He also discussed with the audience the impacts of climate change and what we can do to adapt to and mitigate its effects.  There was active participation from the audience and the lecture ended on a high note with a lively discussion.

The Observatory has been actively promoting public understanding and awareness of climate change in recent years.  Over 160 talks on climate change have been conducted for schools and various community organizations in the last two years.
