Dr Gavin Schmidt, NASA climate expert, visited the Observatory
Dr Gavin Schmidt, Climate Scientist of NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, visited the Observatory on 5 October 2009 and shared with our colleagues his experience and knowledge in communicating climate change science to the media and different sectors of the community. Illustrated by interesting examples, Dr Schmidt's inspiring talk provided useful ideas for the Observatory's colleagues to sharpen their skills in promoting public awareness and understanding of climate change.
Dr Schmidt is a renowned climate scientist. His main research interests include variability of the climate, coupled atmosphere-ocean models, and paleoclimate modelling. He is also a founding member and a contributing editor of http://www.realclimate.org/, a blog based website on climate science for the interested public and journalists.
