Mr Leung Wing-mo was promoted to Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory on 6 April 2009. He has taken over from Dr Lee Boon-ying, who was appointed as Director of the Hong Kong Observatory.
Mr Leung was a Senior Scientific Officer prior to promotion. He was responsible for the development and promotion of the Observatorys corporate identity, studies of tropical cyclone in support of the Central Forecasting Offices operation, and has, for a long time, served as the spokesman of the Department. After promotion, Mr Leung heads the Radiation Monitoring and Assessment Branch, and oversees the Observatorys meteorological training, public education as well as meteorological observing network.
