Points to note:

1. The forecast products are updated twice a day at about 0400H and 1600H local time (the 1st day). The former provides hourly forecasts from 0500H the same day to 0800H the next day and then 3-hourly forecasts up to 2000H of the 3rd day. The latter provides hourly forecasts from 1700H the same day to 2000H the next day, followed by 3-hourly forecasts up to 0800H of the 4th day.
2. Minimal quality control and screening of the computer model generated forecast products are carried out by the Observatory's staff to ensure that the forecasts are within acceptable range. No manual adjustment is made during the whole process. Details of the computer model can be found here.
3. User can choose a region (grid box) to display the forecast time series by clicking over the map directly or clicking the place name on the list to select the belonging region.
4. The data in each grid box, about 10 km x 10 km in size, on the map shows the general weather situation over the region as forecast by the model. As each grid box may comprise a wide range of geographic characteristics such as land mass, sea surface, hill and valley, the weather conditions described by the products may be different from those recorded at individual weather stations within the grid box and the weather forecasts issued by the Observatory.
5. For a full assessment of the weather situation, please refer to the official forecasts issued by the Observatory.
6. Application of post-processing techniques on temperature forecasts and their performance can be found here (in Chinese only).
