(23 July - 22 September 2008)

The exhibition 'Hong Kong Observatory - Weathering the Storms for 125 Years' staged at the Main Lobby of the Hong Kong Museum of History to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Hong Kong Observatory is open to the public from 23 July - 22 September.

Through words, pictures, early weather charts and artifacts like old instruments and typhoon signals, the exhibition tells stories of the Observatory's evolution and brings you back the memories of those storms that have devastated Hong Kong. The exhibits include, among others, a century-old weather map, weather records scribbled by imprisoned Observatory staff during World War II, the earliest literature on the climate of the South China Sea, seismometer used in the 1950s, and the minutes of agreement signed by the directors of the Observatory and the Peking Weather Centre on the establishment of a dedicated data line between the two places.

Admissions to the exhibition is free. The opening hours of the Museum are:

Monday, Wednesday to Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday and public holidays: 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
